I am looking at getting some f2.8 lenses for my D7000. I was wondering if anyone has used the sigma 17-50 f2.8 or the 70-200 f2.8 and how they compare to the nikon versions, or if anyone has other suggestions. Thanks

my friend loves their 17-50 sigma 2.8,, typically sigma lens vary quite a bit in quality lens to lens, so depends on the one you get, and the build quality is a bit less then Nikons.

And of course, modern consumer Nikons are not the most robust lens anymore, and you have to invest quite a bit to climb the quality ladder.

I have used the older model of the 70-200 f2.8 on my D200 and have been thoroughly impressed with the results. Although it does get heavy to hand hold.

I just got the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 this past weekend. It is a much more substantial lens than any other lens I own, so I also got a monopod to support the weight. Used this lens for an outdoor soccer game, and an indoor football game and it did a great job in both situations.
