Finally Sold One

Got notice yesterday via SmugMug that someone bought a huge 30x40 print of one of my photos. First time for a big print. Amazing feeling!!

Now you know the rule hey… First print sold, you got to share the huge profit…

Just kidding, Congrats!

what is the profit split? or % of the sell?

I am always curious about these online places, when I sell I print, I printed the image up and the cost is around 2-3 dollars per print. If I matte, then the cost of the Matte can add 5 dollars or so, Depending upon the size, I'll make around 85% profit per sell. So, typically, a 11x14 with a Matte is around 25 dollars.

But then you have all the labor, finding places to hang, receiving the query, printing/mailing or delivering/ etc,,

versus just uploading and letting the work find a buyer, but so so many millions of pictures, is the market saturated, and odds of getting any real revenue low.

At least when you are your own point of sell, you have some control.

My profit was about $50
