AF or AF-S 70-300

After having bought D7000, I want to take the zoom to a bit far. Just want to know if the 70-300 AF works similar to AF-S on D7000. If that be so, I can get the AF as its low on budget!

Super Mod
The AF would work fine on the D7000 since that model has an in-camera focus motor to drive the AF. Other XX00 models don't have the focus motor so if they want auto-focus lenses they have to use one that has the in-lens focus motor.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Marcel,
I think the price is towards the quality of the glass. Who knows what I might pick as was the case earlier :D

Finalized two 70-300mms, one vc and another vr, tamron and Nikon.
There appears to be a close fight between the two. Price wise tamron is about 40 usd cheaper

Any suggestions?
