Greets from Sactown, NorCal.
SF native; lived in NorCal for all but 12 years. (Spent in LA...mehhh...:p)
Been grabbin' pixels for about 5 years now.
Canon's A70, 510IS and A620 have all spent time on my motorcycle handlebars.
Got my Nikon D80 a couple years back.

I shoot mostly landscapes and macros.
I've shot two weddings...(whew!)
I'm a sucker for damn near anything with water in it.
I walk about looking for reflective stuff that makes you scratch your head.
A watery sunset??? With reflections???
Ohhhhh, man...

I use Photoshop Elements 8 for post processing.
Mostly just lighting/contrast and color curve touch ups.

If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a wordy dude and have a 3 dot ellipsis bent...
You'll have to bear with that.
I'll toss out my experience to help others out and try and keep it humorous but helpful.

If I understand right you have the camera mounted on your bike? If so can you post a pic of your setup? I have considered this as well..of course generally you would have to shoot wide angle to ensure you get what you want and then crop later, and I am thinking you would be stuck generally shooting just what is in front of you no side to side options?

Tanks, folks.

Curt:
Yep, happy w/the D80; I've been shooting with my 50, 60 and 85 more recently.
Depends on what I'm curious about that day.
My 180 comes in handy for distant candids (mostly wildlife) and such.
Although some of the south sac streets could be considered a wildlife shoot.

Kenneth:
I happily side with your views:
Shoot, shoot, then shoot some more! Shoot it, learn it, shoot again.
THEN think about upgrading.
Then shoot some more...:)

Dave:
hehehe! I'll dig up some shots of my 'setup'. It's an on-the-cheap pvc pipe/hose clamp contraption. Cost all of about 5 bucks in parts and took about 1/2 hour to concoct.
I've used the bars mainly for vids, but have gotten some pretty decent stills at speed.
Panning is tricky up on the goat trails in our hills...LOL...but do-able.

I'll have to see if my wife can spare some time to become a member here. Her D80 creates some amazing images:

FerrariRace39.jpg

Sold this image to the owner of the vehicle, delivered it and was given free access to his garage for a couple of hours.

In addition to the Ferrari 500 Mondial:

Mercedes 300SL convertible
Porsche 90
Iso Grifo (less than 100 ever made - his is one of a handful with the 7 Litre motor)
Shelby GT350 - hand built (xx of 100 ever hand-built by Carroll Shelby)
Shelby GT350 - mentioned because he owns TWO of the xx of 100...
Shelby GT500 KR

She has an eye for detail - and complements my photography very well. I get the entire car, she gets the badges and the details that define the car.
