Filters

What is everyone using for filters? B&W, Tiffen, Hoya, or?

I'm a big Hoya fan myself but also have a few Tiffen filters as well.

Are you using step up rings or did you do what I did and start collecting various filters in varying sizes?

Hi..These are the filters I generally use..
D3000 w/18-105mm 67mm UV (Tiffen)
D300S w/18-200mm 72mm UV (Tiffen)
D1X w/50mm 52mm UV (Tiffen), 52mm 82B (Vivitar), 52mm Set of 4 macro filters (Neewer), and for my B&W photography I have a yellow #2 (Tiffen).

So pretty small filter set as I am waiting to see what macro lens I get next 60mm maybe? 85mm still deciding..but will likely get numerous filters for it...

Each lens has its own set of filters even with the same diameter on multiple lenses. No step up rings.

Hi Ken - each of my lens has a UV..but so far the rest of the filters are for my fixed lens...

I am considering buying step up rings as needed for every lens smaller than 77mm and using the larger filters on every lens. It seems like a good idea - less to carry and cheaper in cost.

That sounds like a great setup...I have not see this before...do you have a link?

The local photo guru suggested this idea to save money on filters.

I use Hoya UV and CPL filters on my lenses
I also have a Cokin P Series square filter for my ND, GND and othe special effects filters
