I don't know if anyone has tested the new 95mb/s cards in a D5100.

I'm using 45mb/s cards and I take 8-10 pictures in raw before filling the buffer.

Has anyone noticed a real increase with the 95mb/s or is it just 1 more sequential picture?

Assuming a best case scenario, the D5100 can do 4 frames per second.

Each of those files is roughly 16.4mb which would be 16.4 * 4 = 65.6mb/s being written into the buffer.

The buffer can hold 16 RAW pics or 262.4mb

262.4mb/65.6mb/s = 4 seconds, and the buffer is full

At the same time you're writing out 45mb/s, so in that same 4 seconds 180mb or 11 of those 16 RAW photos have been written to the card.

After another 4 seconds you'll have 10 files in the buffer, then 15 after another 4.

So after 12 seconds and 48 photos the buffer will be completely full and the camera will have to stop

Too bad this isn't true :)

As you know you're not actually getting these speeds. There's a number of other factors that go into how fast the camera can write out of the buffer and to the card, like the processor speed, which Nikon doesn't report. Is a faster card going to make a difference? Probably not.
