I have a Nikon D3100 two lens set so I have the 55-300mm. I love it and have been able to get some good shots. I want to get a bigger lens though, I enjoy nature shots and also sport action shots it would be handy to be able to take a close up picture with out the need to get close up. Often they don't seem to want to stick around for the pose. I need auto focus as I am blind in the left eye and I am loosing my sight in my right eye. A slight challenge at times. I also don't have stash of money under the bed. LOL Any idea's would be great thanks in advance. A sample.

Nikon have the 80-400mm

Sigma make a few decent telephoto lens with "HSM" same as Nikons "AF-S" lens...The 50-500mm...150-500mm but they are not cheap at $1500 +

You might be able to pick up a second hand one...I bought a Nikon ED AF 300mm F4 for $700...Any thing you buy has to be AF-S in Nikon otherwise it wont auto focus and HSM in Sigma...
