Are all 35 1.8G DX lenses this soft around the edges?

Man at anything under f4 there is such as small center focus area...

The closer you get to your subject the smaller the DOF becomes. Try mounting your camera on a tripod and do a test to see how your lens performs. At f4, you should have good coverage throughout but your DOF will vary depending on the distance to your subject.

that's depth of field for ya. . . lol. your focus point is sharp as a tack though. remember, depth of field is shallow close to wide open. so not too much will be in focus. edges are kind of soft on all lenses I think. some more than others. nice shot by the way.

Yeah. The edges look much better at f4. Pretty happy with this lens though.
