Newbie from Michigan

Hi!
I am Lopez and just got myself a Nikon D7000. Very excited to use it. This is my first nice digital camera. I have taken some pictures but need to sit myself down and really read through the manual with a mug of coffee to start getting the hang of the camera.
So far I am having some serious fun.
I have a new flash coming soon because the built-in flash is just WAY too harsh. I will buy another lens next month as well. I promised myself a couple hundred towards camera goodies each month- and if I want a REALLY nice addition, I will save. I want to be learned enough to do some weddings and portraits next summer.
I love capturing moments and feeling like "there. I got that moment. It will now live forever."
Any beginner tips for a first-time Nikon girl?

Hi Lopez and welcome...Off on the right track coffee and manual...The on board flash can be dialed down in camera, your manual will tell you how...When I first started I bought some cheaper lens that have been sol off and replaced with better glass....The old saying, buy once buy right is cheaper in the long run...
