D600 -- Which Glass Will You Use With It?

This thread is for all of you who are extremely or even remotely interested in the D600. Even if you have no desire to make that purchase, I'd still appreciate your feedback. My questions are: Which lenses will you use with the D600 and why? What's going to be your walk-around or everyday lens? I only have one FX lens -- my 70-300mm. Feel free to add and discuss any other accessories you'd purchase for a D600.

The best probably would be the 24-70 2.8. But second best 24-120 f4 VR II that is almost as sharp wide open then the 24-70 and around 3-400 less. Then if you really want to go cheap and light, the 28-80 3.3-5.6 G (not as sharp, but the least expensive and the lightest of the bunch). It all depends on what you want to do with it. All the previous standard zooms (28-135, 35-70, 28-85) could also be used depending on what the expected output is.

I too have the 70-300vr as my only Fx lens and will be looking for something wider. IF it comes in under $2k, I may go for it but will need a budget wide zoom or prime to start out with. My hopes are the consumer 24-70 comes out at the same time, would get that till I can swing the 24-70 2.8 (unless the consumer 24-70 is really good).

Many of us dont have time to mess about changing lenses or the pockets to carry them so its a 28-300mm do all lens VR I want for FX ......maybe stick with the DX and wait for a D7200 or whatever its called then I can stick with my 18-200 Sigma VR !!! Keep the kit light ..move fast ..keep the bride happy ...

I'm really trying to become a more patient and tolerant photog, because I agree with you. I sort of dread changing lenses, when I'm out shooting. It's a bit of a hassle digging in my bag and trying to avoid damaging lenses during a switch. But, sometimes it's a necessity, when you want the best shot. That's why I really like zoom lenses, especially my 70-300mm. It reduces my having to switch lenses so much.

I may purchase a second 28-300 for my D600.
It has been the best all around lens for my D5100, D7000, and D800.
I already have a 17-35, 28-70, 70-200, 80-200 (AF-S), and 80-400.

Actually I would like to get a new AF-S Nikkor 80-400, but it will cost more than the camera if ever built.

A lot of the above mentioned lenses are DX lenses....if you buy a FX body you need a FX lens in order to get a better/sharper photo. I'll go with the Tamron 24-70 VC - it'll perform well on my D90 while I wáit for the D600.

Nikon Rumors is now saying the D600 will come out with a new 24-85 3.5 within 30 days!(lens)

I'm itching for this camera and I just might try this lens. Right now I have a 50 1.4, 70-300, 105 2.8 and the kit lens that came with my D7000 18-105. I might get rid of the DX kit lens and go with the 24-85 depending on some of the feedback.

I'll be using my current lens setup - 28mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8 and 80-200mm af-d 2.8. In my current dx setup, 28mm 1.8 is my walk around, but 50mm will probably my first walk around lens for fx. Maybe 28-70mm 2.8 or 85mm 1.4d later on...

I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade to a D600, but if I did, I'd use my 70-300mm and my 105mm macro, which are my only FX lenses. I'd possibly have to use my DX 16-85mm as a walk-around lens, until I'm ready to upgrade to a wide FX zoom, of a similar focal length. Fortunately, the D600 does have a DX mode.

I've found the 24-70mm is by far my most used lens on the D800. The next would be the 70-300mm VRII. Then a distant third is a tie between the 105mm and the 14-24mm

I was just in Bestbuy today and got to play with a D800 for the first time. They had a 70-300mm attached. I took several shots of the store's interior. I noticed a big difference in the dynamic range of the photos. Nice camera.

I am thinking about upgrading as well. I will probably either shoot with 24 1.8, 50 1.4, 85 1.4, or 24-700. Then maybe get a 70-300 VR for the long range, can't afford the 70-200 2.8 :(
