Keukenhof Gardens

My wife and I returned a couple days ago from our Benelux trip with the highlight being our visit to Keukenhof Gardens. If you haven't heard of Keukenhof, it is often referred to as "the most photographed place in the world". Why? It features 7 million flower bulbs planted by hand.

A couple months back I had started a thread on macro lens specifically for this visit. I wound up purchasing a used Nikkor 105 VR Macro. It was everything I hoped.

It had rained the day before and was overcast the day of our visit. The sun peaked in and out and it was breezy. Since we were traveling light and it was our vacation, I did not pack a tripod. I wound up shooting primarily in shutter priority most of the day to counteract the breeze. About a third of the images were taken by my wife with her Canon S95. The entire gallery is here. A couple of my favorites are below.

If you ever get a chance to visit, you won't regret it. Keukenhof should be on every photographer's "bucket list".
