Is AF Zoom-NIKK0R 70-300mm f/4-5.6G compatible with D5100

The lens will work with a D5100 it just won't autofocus.

There's a less-expensive version of that lens, which doesn't have auto focus. Perhaps, that might be a better option for D5100 owners.

The D5100 does not have a motor in the body to work with AF-D lenses.

You need AF-S lenses

This 70-300 lens will auto-focus with the D3100. Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5 - 5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Lens, USA 2161

I tried this lens the other day, I found the VR feature to be amazing. Maybe it's because I never tried it before...

Hi Balpreet - Newbie here, but I do own the D5100 & the AF-S Nikkor 70-300 4.5 - 5.6 G, and it does work well with the D5100, and id DOES autofocus. Not cheap, but it is a lens you can grow into.
