Ok I need some advise. I do a lot of zoo photography and the animals usually are jut beyond reach of my 80-200 lens. I am considering the nikon 70-200 VRII with a 1.4TC or the Sigma 120-300 with a sigma 1.4TC. Nikon does not make a TC for my older 80-200mm lens which I purchased the the 1993 era. I have heard the nikon 70-200 VRII is a top lens. I need some help deciding. As always thank you in advance for all your help.

Which 80-200 do you have? If it's the screw drive AF version, the Kenko 300 Pro 1.4 TC will work with it. It has a screw drive coupling for non AF-S lenses, and optically, it's on a par with the Nikon TC.

i've also heard lots of good things about the Sigma 120-300. Optically superb wide open across the whole range of focal lengths. I'd choose it over the 70-200 for the extra reach. You could fit a 1.4 TC and have a 170-420 f/4.

I would be able to use the Tenko Pro 300 TC ON MY 80-200mm. I am not real keen on a independent TC. I am also looking into the nikon 300 F4 with a 1.4TC.that would be much less expensive then the other two options.Anyone use the nikon 300mm?

The Kenko Pro is an exceptionally high quality TC, so I wouldn't worry about it not being a Nikon. I use it regularly on my Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 AF-S. It's also good enough to use on my Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX DG HSM, which is a $5000 lens!

I've read a couple of favorable reviews it...

I have the older AF ED 300m F4 and used to use a Kenko T/C on it...Does an excellent job the only problem i can see is you don't have zoom with this set up and people can get between you and your subjects...
