Buying D7000 in Thailand

Hey guys/gals!

Im gonna be making a trip to Thailand in the next few weeks. Realized that a lot of our cameras and accessories are made in Thailand.

Would it be better for me to wait until I get there to purchase a new D7000?

Will I save enough to justify it?

Will the warranty be the same whether I buy it from Canada or Thailand?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Looking to go from a D3100 to D7000.

Cheers!

I'm 95% certain that the camera bought in Thailand will not be warrantied by Nikon Canada. You could ask them if you wish, but it's kind of a company policy for Japanese companies that have canadian distributor (this is what Nikon Canada is). The canadian distributor buys the camera from Nikon and they make a markup on it but they have to supply the warranty. So for them to service a camera that they sold means that the warranty was paid for this camera.

I agree with Marcel. You are better off in patronizing your local stores in Canada and get the warranty instead of Thailand. Shipping the camera to Thailand will also cost you more and longer time to get it back.
