focus of attention

Hello:

I wanted to get your advice on the DOF and crop chosen and their effect on the "focus of attention".
1) do your eyes "wonder" off the pair of tangerines to the left?
2) is the bokeh distracting?
3) how would you crop it?

1. Yes my eyes wander off a little because there is allot of extra space to the right. I like that they are not dead center, but I would crop out about 1/3 of the space to the right.
2. Yes, but only the last 1/4-1/3 at the right.
3. I would crop it in to portrait and cut out the right 1/4.

I like the subject off-center, just a bit too much dead space on the right.

Nice critique, Rick, and well-put questions, Amonomarth. I would add also that the photo looks a tad over-exposed . . . highlights on the fruit seem blown out. You might be able to take care of it in post processing. Use the recovery slider in lightroom, if you have it.

Nice job on the cropping . . . second one is definitely better :)
