I'm assuming that you're just looking for a place that has stock of this item as it's only an $11 product. The link you provided to B&H showed as being out of stock so how about trying Adorama?

Oops, sorry...my mistake.

The part that slips into the hot shoe...what's on the bottom of it? Are there metal contacts, or is it just plain plastic?

There is a single, tiny little metal "pin" sticking through the plastic on the SG-3IR.

It's probably just a spring ball so the SG-3IR clips into place.

Thanks, guys. That answers that question. Here's something I found out. The plate that hangs in front of the flash is an IR filter. You can make your own filter from an old floppy disk...any size. I made one about 20 minutes ago, tested it out, and it works great! Must be my Scottish background that causes me to be so cheap! lol My mother preferred the term "frugal".
