protected image

I want to delete an image on my new D3100 but it says,
Cannot delete protected image
Can you tell me why it is there and how I cam delete. I have tried formattimg but it is still there

Take the SD card out of the camera and look closely at the upper left corner.
You should see a small slider. Slide yours back to the top of the card.
It is no longer protected.

Sorry but it does'nt. I can't move the slider but I didn't make things clear. Only one picture is protected I can delete all others.

Further on that, the slider is at the top.Thanks

Read page 108 in your reference manual. That should cover it.
