50mm f/1/4G vs. f/1.4D Nikkor lenses - which is the better choice?

I can't decide which of these two lenses makes the most sense. The D is a smaller profile lens but the G will give more spherical bokeh relative to the D lens but is there anything more significant that this? The reviews I've read so far would lead me to believe the D is a little faster on the focus and possibly sharper but I can't seem to find anyone willing to say this directly, which makes me think perhaps I'm reading too much between the lines. So I'm hoping someone here has experience with both lenses.
Thanks!

Success! Nelson Photo here in San Diego has one! I knew there was a reason I liked this store. On my way right now...

I have many lenses that are super sharp at f5 or above. What I dont have is sharpness at f/1.4. The g is ever so slightly sharper but at a 100 us dollar premium. You can get the d and use software to sharpen instead.
