D300s here tommorrow

refurbished camera, 2 lenses 35mm af and 85 mm macro afs and an sb-700. i know! i know! refurbished??? i have 90 days to put it through the challenge. will let you know how it works.

Nothing wrong with refurbs as long as you bought from a reputable place that will take care of any issues for you (which it sounds like they will).

Put the 85 on it...put a girl in the frame head and shoulders...and call me in the morning...you're mind is fixing to be blown...DO NOT attempt to mount any non AI lens to that body...

ordered a 50mm 1.8d for it this morning. the afs ones are out of stock.

well its here!! getting used to layout. tried the 2 new lenses i got. works great!! trying other af lenses i have in a bit. will post some pics. also tried the sb-700, charge time is faster then my 3rd party flash. a little over whelmed with the difference than my 3100. feels more compfortable then the 3100 also. if you dont here from me in a few days its cause im playing!!lol

That magnesium body case is incredible isn't? Can't wait to see some of your snaps especially those done with the 85 AFS...

yes they do. my 50mm should be in thursday. in this next shot i used the sb-700 off camera and the 85mm.

Same here. I found a used 24/2.8D on Craigslist for a song and recently added the 105 VR. Love the primes but the 17-55/2.8 rocks too!

i will probably use my 3100 for traveling on trips. 300s i will use for my portraits and postcard shots.

If you've tried HDR with the D3100, you're gonna love auto bracketing with the 300!

i will say this so far about the 300 compared to my 3100. i am glad i got the 3100 first. it taught me( along with my nikonite friends) to understand what things did. if i had gotten the 300 first i would have been very dissapointed. i wouldnt have known what to do. if your just starting out get the 3100 -5100 first you wont go wrong. im still keeping the 3100 for traveling. it works great! it just didnt do the things i wanted for those special shots.

newbshooter, just out of curiosity, what things does the 300 do that the 3100 doesnt.
I know that it has plenty of features, and could get a long list through google, but just interested in what made you go for it.
