Cleaning ND Filters

I'm looking to get a ND filter for waterfall shots and noticed some of them cannot be cleaned due to coatings? My concern is when you get close to waterfalls, the mist can leave mineral residue on the lens/filter and should be removed with a liquid lens cleaner.

Anyone have experience cleaning these and which brands might have uncoated glass on the front side which can be cleaned with liquid?

Always use a clear or UV filter in front of them, you can then clean the UV without fear of harming it.

Good Idea! Do they all have sensitive coatings on the front?

I treat them ALL as fragile but on the front of the uv's I have used non-amonia cleaner.

Some do, some don't. I use lens cleaner liquid and a microfiber cloth on all my filters and lenses. Spray on the cloth, not the lens....very lightly. And like Bill, I treat ALL as fragile, whether they have coatings or not.
