Well I just played around setting d-1 and d-2, but now I found you can’t delete them. You can ignore or what people do is overwrite them, but you can’t delete.
Now you know :)

It's a limitation of ROM based software. Nikon's software is on a ROM, not RAM... As such, all memory space is pre-allocated by the programmer... so they have to pre-define what the options are... The programmer defines the registers, and you decide what/whether to put something in those spaces...

As I like things tidy...I’m OCD like that..... and I wanted to clean up the presets...
i took a photo with the lens cap on to get an all black picture, then I decided the two presets that I’d played with to remove the names and set the image to the all black one. Now all 6 presets look unused. Bingo
