Presets or Programming the D5100 ?

Is there a way to save my camera settings? I spend my weekends pretty much devoted to photography when I am not performing online training. So I try to make full use of the day(s) by shooting various scenes with various settings. I am constantly changing settings when I thought there should be a way for me to save the settings. What I am after is to be able to recall settings in general for say nights, shooting birds, etc... and then all I would have to do is fine tune those general settings.
