Ploughing championships and country show

I attended a local annual ploughing championships yesterday and managed to grab a few photographs of the old tractors / ploughing equipment as well as some of the horse drawn ploughing teams (1 single and a double).

There were also a few "characters" present and it was a good opportunity for many of the older farmers to show off their skills and older but much loved (in most cases) machines.

Apologies for it being an image heavy post but these are a few of the 40+ posted on my blog - 571 Photography

Thanks Woody, it was a good day with some good photo opportunities.

It is a shame that there were so few heavy horses as like you I always enjoy them and find them to be magnificent beasts.

Nice photos-very nice. Reminds me of my 1951 TEA 2085 Ferguson tractor that I gave to my son. Just curios as to what you were shooting with and did you use the oil paint filter on any of the photos? Paul

Thanks tea2085, these were shot with the D500 + 24-120mm f4 and a couple of the horses shot with the 300mm f4 PF - the exif is available in the bottom right corner of the frame.

These were all edited in ACR / CS with no special editing - I am not really happy with them so have re-edited in Capture NX-D and posted the updated versions on my blog - 571 Photography

Please have a look and let me know what you think of these versions which I prefer even though the difference is subtle.

I am going to try NX-D for more of my D500 images.
