A few years back I had a D7000 and sold it and went to a Canon 50D. I am going back to Nikon and I think I will go for the new D7500 with the 18-140mm kit lens to start with. I do not do ant type of photography that would require a grip or ever a second SD card slot. I always carry a spare card any way. What I do like is the faster in camera processing with the D500 specs and especially the tilt rear screen.
So time will tell. Thanks Bill

There aren't any types of photography that "require" a battery grip, only long trips that might benefit from you having one. Same goes with the 2nd SD card. Other than that, it sounds like you're going to be enjoying quite an upgrade. Have fun.
