D3100 nighttime shooting

Hoping to clarify this enigma by your help.<br>I am trying to shoot the fullmoon, But.. The cam won't fire. I think it is because it can focus via autofocus(AF) and my own solution to this problem is to use manualfocus(MF) and then fire. <br>The question; are there a way to still use the AF and fire at same lightcondition as above mentioned or is it only possible with MF, like my solution.<br><br>Personally I am not satisfied with this because my, previous cam (Canon S95(P&S)) had no problems with this issue and could with no problems AF at this conditions...hmmm<br><br>Thanks in advance

I've had no problem shooting the moon in auto focus mode with my D3100. Have you tried single point AF?

I don't know the D3100 at all, but on mine I have the option in the menu to switch off the option that won't let you fire unless its in focus. Might be worth a look
