D7200 Mode Dial does not lock

Went to the local best buy store today to play with some cameras today, happened to notice that the mode dial locks at every position. Interestingly enough My d7200 does not lock between A and M modes. I thought this was by design but maybe i have a bad mode dial. Does everyone's mode dial lock at every position?

Mine locks at every position and that is how it should be. Can't understand what kind of fault would cause it to skip. I would take it in for repair especially if under warranty.
