Since getting it I've mainly had long glass on my D500, but this passed weekend I had occasion to stick my old Sigma 8-16mm on it. At first I had an issue with autofocus working, but I removed and reseated the lens and it was fine. I normally don't turn the camera off when I'm done shooting, and when I picked up the camera the next day the previously fully charged battery was dead.
Has anyone else experienced any anomalies between the D500 and the 8-16mm? I haven't had time to try and recreate it but I'm assuming either the AF or metering system stayed on. I'm going to call Sigma to see if anything like this has been reported and if the lens needs a firmware upgrade for the body, but I always like to check in first to see if anyone else knows anything about the combination first. Hogan reported no strangeness between the two, and when I first got the body I checked it with the lens and it was fine through the viewfinder but seemed to focus hunt in LiveView (which I rarely use).
