Pinging from shutter?

Just wondering if this is normal or not...

I went on a little walk with my gal and I took some shots in the woods. Well, in the quietness of the area I heard what could best be described as a "ping" every time my shutter snapped. I'm just wondering if this is a normal thing that I just haven't heard yet or if it's an issue I should get checked out.

I did not notice anything other than the VR, focus lock and shutter noises. In Quiet mode I did notice an "electronic" chirp sound when pressing the shutter (not completely quiet).

Well crap... It sounds like the mirror vibrating or something. It's just weird because I've never noticed it and nothing abnormal has happened to my camera. It hasn't fallen or been banged up against anything. I'm really hoping that I don't have to send this camera in...

If the mirror were vibrating your shots would be turning out fuzzy because of the mirror's motion. Look for another cause.

I just took the camera out and snapped off a few shots to listen for the sound and it seems to have gone away. I even had my ear right up to it while snapping the shutter and no sound. Odd... :\
