Stepping down?

I have a 72 mm brand new uv hoya mc
and I have just purchased ths 20 1.8 g. Attached that uv with a 77<> 72 ring

Will this work in the long time? No vignetting ?

I suspect you will get significant vignetting.

Bot a good idea. Unfortunately you need to buy filters for your largest lens and then step down to the smaller lenses.

You should see vignetting from it although you always have the option to crop the images. As Don mentioned, buy your filters in the size that will fit your largest diameter lens. Then use step-up rings for lenses that are smaller in their diameters. Going with smaller filters and using step-down rings will create vignetting.

Did you use the 72 mm filter when taking this shot?

a dx camera only uses the sweet spot and you seem to have gotten away with it

Normally you step down from a larger filter size to avoid vignetting. For a DX sensor a marginally smaller diameter filter will not vignet, but on an FX it will.
