Stepping down?

I have a 72 mm brand new uv hoya mc
and I have just purchased ths 20 1.8 g. Attached that uv with a 77<> 72 ring

Will this work in the long time? No vignetting ?

You should see vignetting from it although you always have the option to crop the images. As Don mentioned, buy your filters in the size that will fit your largest diameter lens. Then use step-up rings for lenses that are smaller in their diameters. Going with smaller filters and using step-down rings will create vignetting.
