Took 2 pictures of my flower garden

and although the settings are exactly the same, when viewing with ViewNx2, one shows the focus point and one doesn't. I just don't understand why? I have noticed that the focus point is sporadic. Paul

What settings on the camera did you use to take the pictures, was it auto mode!

As that will sometimes give random focus points.

Are you using BBF? If you lock the focus and then move the camera to re-frame and do not refocus you will not see a focus point. I think this also happens when you 1/2 push the shutter to focus and then reframe the shot while the focus point is locked.

I think I am correct in this because I came across it before, but really haven't tested the process lately so I may have forgotten something. Ha! When I get time, I will have to retest my theory.
