GPS Port Issue

I found this out after trying to plug in my new battery grip but the camera shuts off whenever anything is plugged into the GPS port. Even plugging in a cable that isn't attached to anything shuts it off. Anyone have any thoughts on what this could be? Could it just be a firmware issue? Any help is appreciated.

It's definitely either the cable or the port. I'm in the process of getting a new cable to try out and if that isn't the problem then I guess I'm going to Nikon with the issue...

I just received a package from Cameta Camera that contained my new cable. Just as hoped, the original cable was the issue. The new one came with cold contacts and now my grip works perfectly! Thanks for the help!
