It started several months ago. Unexpectedly, after more than twenty years of marriage, my wife expressed willingness to be photographed while she was bathing, and for me to post such photographs where nobody knows her, as long as they didn't show certain parts that would be covered by a bathing suit.
This picture, resulting from that, ended up being used as my entry for a weekly challenge.
Alas, it didn't score very well, which I found myself feeling more inclined than usual to take personally. On giving it some rational thought, I shouldn't really be surprised. My wife is a fairly modest woman, and to me, being allowed to photograph her in such a manner is quite significant, and even more so, being able to share any such photograph outside of my own view. But given the plethora of much less modest, much younger women out there who freely share pictures of themselves showing much more than my wife would ever allow, I guess it's to be expected that my own pictures of my wife won't be seen as nearly significant by others as they seem to me.
But it has started me on something of a quest to produce attractive and flattering pictures of my wife. Now, I'll come out and say it. I know very well that my wife isn't exactly supermodel material. If I had married someone who was, then there wouldn't be much challenge. But I've embraced the challenge, and so far, I seem to be sometimes producing very satisfying results.
The vast majority of the pictures that I have taken in this line, I cannot share, and alas, the best ones, for the most part, are among these that I cannot share. I have quite a few, now, that do show parts that just are not for anyone's eyes but my own and my wife's; and even among pictures that technically meet the rule of “not showing parts that a bathing suit would cover”; there have been some that my wife is uncomfortable with having shared anyway. In some cases, this had led me to try to recreate these images again, with whatever alterations were necessary for my wife to be OK with them being shared.
The first “bathing suit rule-compliant” pictures that I could not share were taken with her nude, on the bed, in a prone position, facing the camera. I got some really beautiful pictures, with really beautiful facial expressions, which didn't show any actual intimate parts, but when she saw them, she was uncomfortable with how “naked” she thought she looked in them, so I can't share any of them. A day or two later, we recreated the shoot, this time in a few different nightgowns. Out of that shoot, I got this picture, which also ended up being used as an entry in one of the weekly challenges.
I don't like this one nearly as much as the nude version I had done a day or two earlier. This time, I had per put on “light” makeup, which ended up looking much heavier and more unnatural than I like, and we didn't ever get facial expressions that I liked nearly as much as what came out of the previous shoot. Still, I like this picture on its own merit, even if it fell short of the bar set a day or two earlier.
Another shoot that met the “bathing suit rule”, also produced pictures with which she was uncomfortable, but I had much greater success recreating it a day or two ago, in a form that she would allow me to share.
The nightgown is very sheer, except for the bodice, l and although the camera did not have a line of sight to certain parts that, from a different angle, would be clearly visible, the idea that the picture implied these parts to be exposed made her uncomfortable. What it took was to take a picture in which it was clear that she was wearing something else to cover those parts.
For the “Purple” weekly challenge I specifically set up a shoot with my wife to go “beyond purple”, having her in lingerie, under an ultraviolet light, causing the lingerie to fluoresce and show up, with any exposed skin being barely visible. Of four final pictures as candidates for that challenge, she vetoed one on the basis that she thought she saw an intimate part showing through. I don't think it's what she thought it was, but it's her call, so only three of the four can be shared, of which this is the one that I used for the entry:
That's the same nightgown as in the previous picture, and also the same as in this next picture.
And this was with a different, shorter, “babydoll-style” nightgown, which I believe is the same one she is wearing a few pictures back, where she is prone, and wearing makeup.
At this point, I'm growing weary of telling stories about the pictures, so I'll just post what remaining pictures seem suitable for this post, with minimal further comment.
