Lost bottom rubber terminal cap

Hi there,
it looks like that I have lost the bottom rubber cap from my d750. Now camera is bottomless :p
I wonder how bad is to be around shooting and having the bottom part of the camera uncovered.
The alternative would be to use camera with the battery grip attached although for street photography that would make me look like journalist which I guess is not good.
I can order new onew from ebay although I wonder how long one can leave it as that without caring that camera might have problems.

I have yet to use gaffers tape, but would that fall into this category?

I saw it's use suggested on another subject (I think it was here).
