Then there were three...

Finally decided to go FX and spend some hard earned cash on a D750.

However no torn between which lens to get from the following;
Nikon 24-120 f/4
Sigma 24-105 f/4 Art lens
Tamron 24-70 f/2.8

All three cover the focus ranges I most use in my photography daily needs (family etc) which makes chosing one even harder than another.

If I wanted it for looks, it would be the Sigma - it's a sexy beast of a lens :)
For aesthetics and the whole ecosystem, it would be the Nikon of course.
And just because it's superb lens for the price, the Tamron wins of course.

Ideally I'd like a 24-100+ f/2.8 for some nice bokeh type shots, but I have my 50mm f/1.8 for that and may be adding a 20mm f/1.8 (Nikon) or 20mm f/1.4 (Sigma A) down the line.

Any help/advice much appreciated

I really like my 24-120 on my D750 and recently there have been some great deal on that lens with the D750. Not sure if they still have them.

you seem to be choosing the lenses for the wrong reasons.

another voter for the tamron 24-70

the difference between a shallow DOF shot of f/4 and 2.8 is huge.

there are 4 (yes, 4 not 3 like everyone says) criteria that will give you the shallowest DOF.
1-focal length
2-aperture
3- distance to subject
4-subject to background -the further away they are from the background the greater the blur.

Nikon D750 FX-format Digital SLR Camera w/ 24-120mm f/4G ED VR Auto Focus-S NIKKOR Lens = $2,296.95

Nikon D750 FX-format Digital SLR Camera Body =

$1,996.95

So with the special the lens only cost you $300. Buy the kit and try it. If you decide otherwise you can sell the lens
(which by itself costs $1,096.95) for $600-$700 and buy something else.

This is a no brainer. 24-120mm lives on my D750. You could sell it used ($500-ish seems more likely) if you don't like it and invest that in your lens of choice. I'll take the reach for any gain in bokeh in a heartbeat.

I was with the 24-70 early into this post, but now the whole idea getting the 'kit' version with 24-120 and seeing how it goes seems like a good idea.

D750 body only = £1240
D750 w/24-120mm (kit) = £1798
D750 w/24-105mm = £1839

Given the almost minor difference, in both focal length and price... is the Sigma a better option?

D750 & 24-70mm = 1919
24-120mm only = £649

I'd have to get a good £600 on that 24-120mm if I wanted the 24-70mm otherwise it'd end up costing more :(

I hate buying things - so much information to take on board, so much trying of things out before you can hit that buy button!!
