Can I tether my D700 to the iPad or Mac Book Pro so after I take a shot I can visualize it on the screen instead of the LCD? I do real estate photography and think this would be helpful to really see the shot.

The USB cable that came with your camera body will should do it.
I'm not intimately familiar with the D700, but both my D5300 and D7100 can with the necessary USB cable for transferring images off the camera's storage cards.
