February 2016 ... "Love and/or Romance"

Use your imagination to come up with some exceptional photos. February is usually considered the month of Love, so... capture something that symbolizes, represents or shows "Love or Romance." It can be a romantic dinner, courting birds, a food in the shape of a heart, romantic lighting...

WHATEVER it is, this is the month to try to capture something portraying/representing "Love or Romance" in a photo, and share it with the rest of us! You are limited only by your imagination. Please use discretion and refrain from posting photos "NSFW."

There ya go, let's get shooting! CREATVITY/TECHNIQUE rules in this challenge, but there are a few guidelines:

1. Any photo submitted for a monthly assignment must be taken using a Nikon Camera!

2. All submissions must be taken during the month specified in the assignment thread and taken by YOU! (Please insure that EXIF is either posted with the photo or if it gets messed up, hold yourself to the honor system and add the minimum Exif data of the Camera used and the date the photo was taken to your post)

2. Obviously, for this challenge, your photo must portray "Love and/or Romance" of some sort. Other than that, it's all up to your interpretation of the theme. Any photo will be accepted, SOOC or edited, doesn't matter.

3. Photos must be posted in this thread to be considered. Links to photos will not be considered an entry.

4. Only THREE entries per member for each assignment. Please post entries separately (1 photo per post) and number the entry.

5. Entries will be judged by the number of likes received.

6. The top 5 shots will be displayed in a separate thread, and will be displayed in no particular order.

7. This is intended to be a FUN challenge. No critiques unless specifically asked. Also, please limit posts to just photos and brief descriptions/titles. Any comments/discussion should occur elsewhere, PLEASE.

As listed in other challenges, please note: NO CASH OR PRIZES will be awarded for this Monthly Assignment.

HAVE FUN, can't wait to see the results!!

Once again, I will add @Don Kuykendall 's tutorial which may help in submitting photos to meet rule #3 for submissions.

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

“BOB LOVES SEANETTE!”—Re: February 2016 ... "Love and Romance"

First entry…

In 1994, I was thirty-one years old, and finally in my very first ever real romantic relationship. We went to the State Fair in Santa Barbara, and there I was drawn in by a carnival-game-barker, who encouraged me, for free, to try a game to see how easy it was. It consisted of tossing a baseball into a bushel basket a short distance away.

Among the prizes on display was a white teddy bear bearing a red heart with “I Love You” printed on it—just the thing I had to win for my new girlfriend.

I quickly learned a lesson about these carnival games. I don't know the exact mechanism involved here, but it was obviously rigged in some manner. When I was playing for free, with no prize at stake, I could easily toss the ball into the basket, and it would stay there. If I paid some money, and hoped to win a prize, I could toss the ball in, and it would just bounce back out.

So, I did better. The very next morning, I got up early and went to a local toy store, where I bought the largest white teddy bear that they had; bigger than the one that I had failed to win the day before. I went to a craft store to buy materials to make a heart, and with a little help from my mother, I created this far-superior version of the bear I that had failed to win before. On the back of the heart, is the date, “May 4th, 1994”.

I said that this was my first real romantic relationship. Actually, it was my first, last, and only such relationship. Seanette and I were married less than a year later, and we have now been married for almost twenty-one years.

Teddy Bear holding a Caramel Chocolate.

The note means: "You are the flower in my life! I love you!!!"

It is the teddy bear I brought to my wife with flowers, when she was at the hospital for an operation...

Entry #3

Wood Storks caught in the act

I think this one just barely missed the deadline.

I was just thinking of pestering my wife about helping produce a third entry, when I realized that the deadline had barely passed.

Remember, it's by UTC. 00:00 UTC on 01 March 2016. Here on the west coast, in Pacific time, that's 16:00 on 29 February.

Nothing about UTC in the monthly assignment rules Bob.
