We're "pinch hitting" here since Anthony has an emergency and we don't want to have a week without a challenge. So he'll announce the previous winner when he gets back. In the meantime . . .

Your challenge for the Week of Aug 17 - Aug 24 is Depth:

"Because photography is a two-dimensional medium, we have to choose our composition carefully to convey the sense of depth that was present in the actual scene. You can create depth in a photo by including objects in the foreground, middle ground and background. Another useful composition technique is overlapping, where you deliberately partially obscure one object with another. The human eye naturally recognizes these layers and mentally separates them out, creating an image with more depth. " (courtesy of PhotographyMad

Use any subject you like and as many techniques you like to convey a 3-dimensional feel, a feeling of DEPTH to your picture.

We're also going to try a "member's choice" to select the winner. Simply click "like" as your vote. Anthony and I will be the "tie-breakers" if needed. Please judge according to the criteria:depth. Not every good photo has depth, and a photo that has depth may not be your favorite. So let's see how you do as judges!

The way the likes are set up, you can obviously "like" more than one, but can't like the same one more than once.

Be sure to visit the Weekly Challenge Rules & Guidelines for more information. This thread will be closed on August 24th (midnight EDT)...so get those photos in!

The Rules

1. Photos must be posted to the thread in order to be considered for the challenge.
2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread and taken by you! Because not all EXIF data can be verified, we will use the honor system here.
3. Challenges will be judged solely by the winner of the previous week. There will be no individual voting.
4. Only one photo entry per member, for each challenge.

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Challenge, unless specifically noted by the site administrator. This is a member-run contest, and the purpose of the Weekly Challenge is to encourage member participation on the forums and to keep you taking pictures!

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited/straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

Somebody had to start the sheep rodeo off!

BTW...Have you ever seen a hornier bunch of flocking sheep in your life? (newbshooter, Rick, Salvatore, ALL of you are to blame for this one!) :)

Very nice Pete and Marcel. I'm trying not to "like" anything until near the end, but these shots are hard to unlike!
