Pricing Services

I am a photographer, and I have a large format printer (the largest inkjet available) that I got for my own needs, and decided to offer the service to other photographers, to print their photographs on canvas or photo paper to virtually any size.

How do I price my services? Do I price similar to Mpix and Costco? Do I price lower? Or higher?

Thank you!

I'd suggest taking a look at Snapfish, Bay Photo, and other printing labs. Then price your prints competitively.

Keep in mind there is also shipping prices involved when ordering through these companies so you might charge a little more per print, but not much.

Just my $.02

I would suggest you calculate your cost for printing first (cost of ink + cost of paper + cost of labor), then do a percentage markup. I'm assuming you want to make a profit. I think if you use Mpix or costco prices, you'll go in a hole rather quickly. I have my own large format printer as well, but only print for myself on specialty paper.
