First post on this forum; hi!

I could really use some help/advice regarding this troublesome "flickering" or readjusting effect which is occurring while shooting video of myself.

I'm trying to see if I can tied it to movements I am making that is affecting the light level that is hitting the camera, but I'm not sure if that is the cause or not.

Here's a very short example of this happening many times. It's most noticeable in the background, which seems to get lighter and darker.

That YouTube link for reference is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMrYeH84my4

Thank you so much for your help!! This is really getting my way.

I'm using a D5100 by the way!

I don't have a lot of experience shooting video with my DSLR, but I'm wondering if you have something on auto that's causing it - ISO, aperture, etc? Maybe it's detecting a slight change in light and adjusting something to cause that.

You're most likely shooting in Auto mode, which will cause slight variations in exposure as the meter responds to minor fluctuations in the light. I'm not sure if that model can shoot in Manual mode, but if so that should eliminate the problem.
