Trip to Isle Royale Which lens to use?

Okay I only have two choices for lenses to use on my trip tomorrow to Isle Royale and would like you feed back. I can only take one because it is a backpacking trip and I am already adding a lot of weight with the choice to take my D7000 with me instead of just a simple point and shoot. So my choices are my Nikkor 18-105 or my Tamron 18-200..I was leaning toward the Tamron but I just love the pictures from my Nikkor. Thoughts?

I have Nikon's 18x200, and it is one of my favorite lenses. I would use the Tamron, if it were me.

I would take the 18-200. Less chances of missing a nice shot. You can always sharpen afterwards in pp.

Even though I prefer the 18-105, I would go for the 18-200. You have just that little extra reach there if it's needed.

The 18-200 lenses are 1 lens solutions for those that need convenience above all else. That usually comes into play for exactly the scenario (travel) that you are describing. Just one lens: take the 18-200.
