EXIF Data on Video Files

Does anyone here know if Nikon embeds EXIF-like data on the video files created by their DSLR's?! I'm having a hell of a time finding out. I did find a site that says that Canon now does it, which means that they didn't at some point. I can't seem to find any when I use normal file information tools, so I'm thinking not - which begs the question, "Why the heck not?!"

If you know, let me know, and if it's there please be specific in letting me know how to get at it.

Yes and No. No info like ISO, shutter speed or aperture, because those things change all during a movie clip. And a finished movie is probably many video clips assembled.

There is "Exif data", but the actual Exif section is not there. It only includes the Manufacturers section, copied below. This is one D800 movie file, straight out of the camera. This is shown by ExifTool (see Camera Exif data )

Thanks, Wayne. I wish someone made a GUI for Macs with that tool that read more than still images. The Maker Notes section contains the information I would need to verify the shoot time of the file, provided it's available from a D750 as well (I suspect it will be).

I'm fairly certain I've seen similar info in my D5300 video files when working in Premiere. If the D5300 embedded that data, I'd expect the D750 to as well.

I'd guess the file date/time in the computer should be pretty close, at least showing when you downloaded it. In my case, about 3 hours different. I can't think of anything that could have changed it since.
