Ring lighting

Can any one suggest a good ring light for my 105. And no I am not crafty enough rig up my own lighting using rubber bands and foam.

Depends on your budget,they range from low power led units that are not a lot of good up to TTL ring flashes like this.

Whats your budget? I currently use a cheap diffuser for mine with onboard flash, its a very simple design and works very well. I use the one in the first images here - http://nikonites.com/macro/28686-want-take-macro-then-thread.html#axzz3gIoZ5TKP have a look and it may save you money, but if you want a ring light then I suggest a ring flash as the light will be better than just the ring light. These are more expensive though. Also nearly all flashes will need a diffuser made.

Take a look at this site for ideas at getting your macro rig setup. The more research of macro photography, the more obvious that most photographers go diy for lighting. I do not believe it is out of thriftiness, rather of what works very well.
