My father passed on his Tamron 70-300mm lens to me, he was not using it and when I attach it and turn on my camera it says lock the aperture ring. I do this and it is flashing f EE in my view finder. Does anyone know what Im talking about, or how to correct this. My camera is working fine. HELP!

Thanks in advance

Either the aperture ring is not at it's smaller aperture (biggest number) or the lens electronic contacts are dirty. You can try cleaning the contacts or close the aperture ring to see if it can solve the problem.

BEST way to clean the contacts is to lightly polish them with a pencil eraser. Then blow away the eraser bits. DO NOT touch the contacts with your fingers.
The acid in your skin oil etches the contacts.

Hope this helps.
