What is your favorite walk-around lens for your D750 ??

I don't have a real walk-around lens (I think either 24-85, 24-105 or 24-120 could be a good walk-around lens.)
When I go out with my D750 I have to decide which one, 16-35 or 70-200, I should bring along, not both unless it's a several-day trip (the 50mm f/1.8 stays home most of the time).
Truth is I go out with the Coolpix A in my jean pocket more often than with the D750 in my camera bag.

Hi,

I once tried the 18-140 DX lens on my D750.
No, It's not working nice enough...
It was a quick snap, at +/- 50 mm, the circle is still far to small for a decent pic.
I have the 24-120 F4 VR as my walk around lens.
A perfect lens for a walk around lens.
I have bought a Kenko PRO0 DGX 1.4x extender for the use onto my 70-200 F4 lens.
But it also works on my 24-120 F4 lens, it becomes 168 mm F5.6!!
So for a city trip or a quick get away on my motorbike, I only take the 24-120 lens and the Kenko extender with me.
Travelling a bit small and light.

When I'm out walking around (defined as situations where f/2.8 is never needed) I'll take my 24-85. Small, lightweight, decent IQ. But most of the time when I'm out, I have a sling or backpack for the 750 w/24-70, flash, etc.

I read up upon DX on FX and some lenses do work (at a longer focal length) while others don't. My 10-24mm did and more wide angles do but it's possible other lenses are constructed differently and always cast a smaller cone.
