I am having a problem and I don't know where is coming from
I photographed in a studio with natural light coming from a window on a right side
Shot RAW 14 bit but find a heavy posterisation
Have a look at the video, please https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYMEmBDDdmY
Any body have a clue
Maybe something is wrong with my copy of a camera ( sensor )?
best

Did you try loading them in Nikon software (Capture NX-D) and check them there? It's possible there's an issue with the cam profile in ACR. If they look the same in Capture NX-D, you can rule that out.

If I'd have to guess I'd say it isn't a cam issue but a color space issue. Capture NX-D shows images in sRGB by default so if you shoot aRGB it is possible you see posterisation.

If you check the shots on the LCD of the cam, do you also see the posterisation? Try to change the color spaces either in PS or in cam and see if that has any affect.

I'm not certain that what you are seeing would show up if you'd printed the shot. Sometimes, when using sliders in post processing it happens on screen but doesn't show when printing. It might have to do with the limits of our screens and displays. Maybe??

I think it's best if he uploads a NEF file using dropbox so we can check them in our editors. It'll directly reveal if it is an issue with his cam or not.

Here is one with natural light only https://app.box.com/s/0agyui3j99qggacm35v28eekrvrsu646
This one is with mix light . Strobe from the left side and daylight from the right https://app.box.com/s/e6b6jzmgeobpji6wlr9zfv6jx9d0x1mj
It does not look that bad in Camera Raw but once opened in Photoshop it is bad. Try applying levels . Just go left and right with a midton slider
Thank you very much guys. I really appreciate your help

I downloaded the first file. I'm getting the same thing as in your video in PS .

I see the posterisation in my editors but when I export one as JPEG, they look fine on my Mac.

I assume the problem is our monitor; they simply can't display the data correctly in this case.

Loaded the table directly into View-nxi and all is well. Converted the nef to dng and loaded to Lightroom and all is well. Your footprints on the floor are right there to be seen.. That is a nice camera you have.
