Impromptu Portrait

Went for a lakeside walk and I loved the way the leaves looked in the light. I couldn't get both my boys to look at the camera at the same time but this is my favourite from the quick impromptu shoot we did. I would like to one day be a professional photographer for families, weddings and such things. Keeping that in mind what would you have done differently? How would you have made this photo better? Also would a lens hood have gotten rid of the lens flare?

Nice effort. Whenever I have light like this, I try not to hide my subjects in complete shade. I try and position them so that their hair picks up some catchlights and highlights, just like you have on the eldest ones left shoulder. Can be tricky, but something for you to work towards. Good effort!
