At least it's not just Nikon that have 'issues'
Canon have had there fair share,i think most the same as Nikon have been due to lack of QC
With it being an issue that can be fixed without having it coming back over an over, I don't see much reason to get too upset about it. It seems obvious to me that it was an error in the gluing process. It looks like they skipped a roller press or some other method to smooth out the air bubbles. But it does give a poor opinion of the inspection employees. Those sensors should have been caught before the Canons got shipped if not before even being installed.
