Problem with auto focus on kit lens.

Hi everyone,

I received a D3200 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago with the kit lens 18-55mm.

It had been working fine on auto but occasionally it wouldn't focus, which I just put down to my inexperience and some of the settings being wrong etc.

But it seems to have only gotten worse. Most times I try to take a picture it just won't focus at all, and you can hear clicking in the lens almost as if the motor is broken. However every time I slightly unscrew the lens and then click it back into place this fixes the problem so I think it might be down to the connectors between the camera and the lens and how its sitting.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Any other trouble shooting I can try?

Its definitely set to Auto on the wheel and on the lens.

Welcome to the forum,was it new if so i doubt it will be this but check the contacts on the lens and camera are clean,people have cleaned them gently with a clean pencil eraser,be careful though you dont get bits of eraser falling in the camera.
