Heres the set up: SB-600 on remote or slave, or whatever the it takes to communicate with the SB-700. SB-700, in commander mode, on the end of a SC-28, hooked up to my D3100.

Question: Will this work. I do not want to buy an SU-800 if I can help it.

The SB-700 can be used, in commander mode, to control the SB-600 and the SC-28; the 600 in A channel and the 28 in B channel. The 700 has to be on the camera, not the 28.

SC-28 is an off camera iTTL cable. I was thinking of the 700 off camera but tethered to it on the SC-28. Then the 700 controls the 600 via commander. Is that possible?

LOL...my bad, Dave. I was thinking of the SB-24 flash. :) Sorry about that.

So let me get this straight; the SC-28 hooked up to your camera, the 700 mounted on the SC-28, and you want to control the 600 from the 700, correct? Yes, that should work. It's as if the 700 was directly mounted to the camera.

I want the 700 off camera as well as the 600. I can keep the 700 within 10 feet of the camera with the SC-28, and the 600 can go anywhere I like. That way I have 2 off camera flashes.
