Testing my 80-400mm after having it sent in for focus adjust.

 It was only out -5 using in camera lens adjust but considering it's cost I decided to send it in.....

Seems to be spot on...

Focus is the battery second from the right.

Set up, batteries are @ ~ 45 degrees to the camera. Camera is ~ 15' away..

Don't understand your comment Scott ?

I determined the lens had an issue. I sent it in for realignment. On its return, I conducted a controlled and in the field test to confirm there was no longer an issue.

IMO, that is not too much mucking around.

I now know if my images are off, it is my fault and not the lens :)
